Larkspur is divided into two distinct areas adjoining Highway 101. Its historic downtown is west of Highway 101, and an old quarry area known as Larkspur Landing is to the east of the highway along the San Francisco Bay shoreline. On the edge of historic downtown, Larkspur are charming neighborhoods and gathering places, including Bon Air. Bon Air is Greenbrae’s gathering place for shopping, dining, playing and relaxing. Choose from 50 specialty merchants, family-friendly restaurants, and essential services conveniently located in the heart of Marin. For 65-years and counting, Bon Air’s welcoming outdoor spaces and spectacular Mt. Tam views have provided a sense of place for special events and the community.
Marin Country Mart at Larkspur Landing is an open-air shopping and dining destination that features a noteworthy collection of appealing boutiques, farm-to-table eateries, and convenient services – enhanced by myriad special events for adults and children, including Friday Night Jazz and the Folkish Festival series. Merchants are known for luxurious, locally sourced offerings that are unique and delight customers. Marin Country Mart also hosts a Jazz Series on Friday evenings, a Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, and Off the Grid Food Trucks on Sundays.
From the shopping center, a footbridge over the highway allows visitors to access the futuristic Golden Gate Ferry terminal, a departure point for travelers going from Marin to the San Francisco Ferry Building. The ride offers spectacular views of Mt. Tamalpais, Angel Island, and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Each year in July, Larkspur Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual wine stroll from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. More information here.
Just east of the landing is Remillard’s Brickyard Kiln, the last remaining building of the brickyard built in 1889. It has been declared a state historical landmark and is now home to a romantic restaurant and a small office complex. The waterway adjacent to the kiln has become a major attraction for windsurfers. Larkspur has 10 parks accommodating every sport from horseshoes to kayaking.
